WILDLIFE CONSERVATION

Sensoria Wildlife Conservation
On September 13th, 2018, we set out an expedition to install 9 motion activated cameras around Sensoria and within the Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

This initiative is part of Sensoria’s commitment to conservation efforts along with Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG), in collaboration with Programa Jaguar-UNA (Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica), and documented by SelfArea Productions. The first day of expedition consisted of a 21km hike through pristine tropical rainforest and preserved lands. The first 4 cameras were set inside the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. The second day consisted of a shorter but still intense hike of 6kms along Sensoria’s tropical rainforest trails.
After a 5 month wait, the crew set out on February 12th to retrieve the motion activated cameras. Safety measures required the team to take a different route, this time 26kms of adventurous trails.
This initiative is part of Sensoria’s commitment to conservation efforts along with Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG), in collaboration with Programa Jaguar-UNA (Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica), and documented by SelfArea Productions. Upon retrieving the cameras, amazing footage was the resulting prize. Jaguars, pumas, ocelots, tapirs, peccaries and dozens of other animals were captured by the cameras. This proves how conservation efforts are leading to a healthy ecosystem inhabited by large and small mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. We appreciate the amazing work that all the parties have put into this wonderful project.
