National Wildcat Day

in Costa Rica

On July 4th Costa Rica celebrates National Wildcat Day, a day to honor and embrace the six species of wildcats we have in our tropical rainforests: Jaguar (Panthera onca), Puma or Cougar (Puma concolor), Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), Jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi), Margay (Leopardus wiedii) & Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus)

Sensoria plays proud part on wild feline conservation efforts, so we put together a short video with 4 of the 6 species, which have been documented recently by our camera traps (Jaguar, Puma, Ocelot and Margay - Jaguarundis have been spotted in Sensoria and Oncillas are extremely rare to find)

This video is a small glimpse of an ambitious project between Programa Jaguar Una, Universidad Nacional Costa Rica (UNA) , Sensoria and Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG) within the Rincón de la Vieja National Park, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
