Is a lifelong commitment. It is a continuous effort to make a better impact on our surroundings, including nature and community. Here are some examples of how we strive for sustainability:
At Sensoria we’ve started out by destining our land for protection, interfering as little as possible only to make the necessary trails and facilities so that our visitors can absorb the energy of the rainforest, reconnecting with nature in the most simple of ways: being in it.
We try to keep our energy consumption to a minimum by using as much natural lighting and natural air circulation as possible. The rest of our energy demand is satisfied with solar panels and hydraulic energy, which supply enough to sustain energy-efficient light bulbs, refrigerators and freezer.
The most important step in correct waste management is to reduce wastes in the first place. We do our best to purchase as much fresh produce as possible, avoiding cans, boxes, bottles and other unnecessary packaging. The remaining organics are composted and the rest is sent to its appropriate municipal disposal or recycling center.
All our staff is local. We provide training to enable people from the local community to have jobs in Sensoria. Everyone is paid with competitive salaries and has a nice work environment. As many products as possible are purchased from the local community.
Sensoria is happy to host activities such as environmental education events or workshops that raise awareness on conservation.
